CHILD BIRTH CERTIFICATE OF FOREIGNERS IN VIETNAM

I. Who need the Child Birth Certificate?

Children who are born in Vietnam include:

  • Father and mother is a foreigner, currently residing in Vietnam;
  • Father or mother is a foreigner and the other is Vietnam citizens residing abroad;
  • Father or mother is a foreigner and the other is a Vietnamese citizen residing Vietnam;
  • Father or mother Vietnam residing abroad (using foreign passports) and the other is Vietnamese citizens residing in Vietnam;

II. Dossier for registration of birth certificate relating to foreigner in 01 set, including the following documents:

- Original birth certificate issued by the health department, where the child is born or paper in replacement of birth certificate (if the child is born outside the medical facility, the birth certificate is replaced by written confirmation witnesses; in the absence of witnesses, the birth registration must make written pledges about bearing is true).

- Agreement of child's parents about the choice of nationality in the case of parents choose for children of foreign nationality. Agreement must be certified by the state agency authorized by the foreign country of which he is a citizen of the child's citizenship chosen in line with the law of that country (which has been legalized and translated into Vietnamese).

- A copy attached with the original for comparison of or certified copies of the following documents: Certificate of marriage of the parents (if the parent of the child has marriage registration); Identity card or Passport; Household registration book or temporary residence registration books (for citizens of Vietnam in the country); Permanent residence card or temporary residence card or temporary residence certificate (for foreigners residing in Vietnam).

- Written authorization or proof of personal relationships (in case of authorization); 

  • Time for issuing: 03 working days from the date of receipt of the Department of Justice of a valid application. In case of need to verify, the period is 06 working days.

  • Term of birth registration: Within 60 days from the date of birth, parents are responsible for child birth registration.
